Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced yellow onion
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste
Other Ingredients
- 1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots (some leftover)
- 1 (10.75 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (14 oz) can green beans, drained
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Cooking spray for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook Ground Beef and Onions: In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook and brown the ground beef along with the diced yellow onion. Once cooked, drain any excess grease. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
- Layer Beef in Baking Dish: Spread the cooked ground beef and onion mixture evenly across the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
- Add Cream of Mushroom Soup: Spread the entire can of cream of mushroom soup evenly over the ground beef layer.
- Add Green Beans: Drain the canned green beans and evenly layer them on top of the soup layer.
- Sprinkle with Cheddar Cheese: Evenly distribute the 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese over the green beans.
- Top with Tater Tots: Arrange as many frozen tater tots as you can fit over the cheese layer. It is normal to have some leftover tots.
- Bake the Casserole: Place the casserole uncovered on the center rack of your oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the tater tots are cooked through, crisp, and golden brown on top.
Notes
- You can add extra vegetables such as corn, fresh mushrooms, bell peppers, or zucchini to any of the layers for added flavor and nutrition.
- Worcestershire sauce is optional but adds a nice tangy depth to the beef mixture if you have it on hand.
- Make sure to drain the green beans to avoid excess moisture making the casserole soggy.
- Leftover tater tots can be saved for another meal or snack.
