Ingredients
Scale
Beef Patties
- 1 lb 85% lean ground beef
- 3 tbsp chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
- 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Montreal-style steak seasoning
Sandwich
- 2 tbsp butter, softened (or as needed)
- 6 slices white bread
- 6 slices Colby-Jack cheese
Instructions
- Prepare the beef mixture: In a bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and Montreal-style steak seasoning. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute the seasonings throughout the meat.
- Form beef patties: Shape the mixture into three equal-sized patties, ensuring they are compact enough to hold their shape during cooking.
- Cook the patties: Heat a nonstick griddle or skillet over medium heat. Place the beef patties on the griddle and cook for 4 to 6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure they reach a safe internal temperature of at least 160°F (71°C).
- Set patties aside: Remove the cooked patties from the griddle and set them aside to rest slightly while you prepare the sandwiches.
- Prepare griddle for sandwiches: Warm a second griddle or clean the first one and heat it over medium heat. Butter one side of each bread slice generously with softened butter.
- Assemble the patty melts: Place half of the bread slices, buttered side down, on the griddle. On each slice, layer one slice of Colby-Jack cheese, one cooked beef patty, and another slice of cheese. Top each with a remaining bread slice, buttered side up.
- Grill the sandwiches: Cook the assembled sandwiches on the griddle for about 6 to 10 minutes total, flipping halfway through. Grill until the bread is golden brown and crisp, and the cheese inside has melted completely.
Notes
- This recipe works great with Colby-Jack cheese and white bread, but feel free to experiment with your favorite cheese and bread types.
- Ensure the beef patties are cooked fully to 160°F for safe consumption.
- Using a griddle or skillet with enough surface area makes flipping the sandwiches easier and ensures even cooking.
- Butter the bread slices generously for a crispy, golden crust.
