Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese Recipe

  • Author: Lily
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 12 mini grilled cheese sandwiches

Description

This Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese recipe features soft and sweet King’s Hawaiian rolls spread with a flavorful garlic herb butter, layered with melted cheddar cheese, and baked to golden perfection. Perfect as a comforting snack or appetizer, these mini sandwiches pair wonderfully with tomato soup for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Rolls and Cheese

  • King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls – 1 package (12 rolls)
  • Sliced cheddar cheese – 12 slices (approx. 4 tbsp cheese per sandwich)

Garlic Herb Butter

  • Butter (softened) – 4 tbsp
  • Oregano – 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Parsley – 1/2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Prepare the garlic herb butter: In a small bowl, mix softened butter with oregano, garlic powder, and parsley until well combined.
  2. Prepare the rolls: Separate King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls individually. Cut each roll into thirds horizontally to create mini sandwich buns. Spread the prepared garlic herb butter on each roll slice evenly.
  3. Assemble the sandwiches: Place a slice of cheddar cheese between two buttered roll slices to form mini grilled cheese sandwiches. Arrange the sandwiches on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil.
  4. Bake the sandwiches: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the assembled sandwiches for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through the baking time to achieve even browning and melted cheese.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm. Optionally, pair the mini grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup for a classic combination.

Notes

  • Use softened butter for easy mixing and spreading.
  • Flip the sandwiches halfway during baking to ensure both sides get crispy and golden.
  • These sandwiches are best served fresh out of the oven while the cheese is warm and melty.
  • Feel free to customize the cheese type or add extras like ham or tomatoes for variation.
