Description
This Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese recipe features soft and sweet King’s Hawaiian rolls spread with a flavorful garlic herb butter, layered with melted cheddar cheese, and baked to golden perfection. Perfect as a comforting snack or appetizer, these mini sandwiches pair wonderfully with tomato soup for a complete meal.
Ingredients
Rolls and Cheese
- King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls – 1 package (12 rolls)
- Sliced cheddar cheese – 12 slices (approx. 4 tbsp cheese per sandwich)
Garlic Herb Butter
- Butter (softened) – 4 tbsp
- Oregano – 1/2 tsp
- Garlic powder – 1/2 tsp
- Parsley – 1/2 tbsp
Instructions
- Prepare the garlic herb butter: In a small bowl, mix softened butter with oregano, garlic powder, and parsley until well combined.
- Prepare the rolls: Separate King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls individually. Cut each roll into thirds horizontally to create mini sandwich buns. Spread the prepared garlic herb butter on each roll slice evenly.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Place a slice of cheddar cheese between two buttered roll slices to form mini grilled cheese sandwiches. Arrange the sandwiches on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil.
- Bake the sandwiches: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the assembled sandwiches for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through the baking time to achieve even browning and melted cheese.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm. Optionally, pair the mini grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup for a classic combination.
Notes
- Use softened butter for easy mixing and spreading.
- Flip the sandwiches halfway during baking to ensure both sides get crispy and golden.
- These sandwiches are best served fresh out of the oven while the cheese is warm and melty.
- Feel free to customize the cheese type or add extras like ham or tomatoes for variation.
