For the Cake:

- 1 cup water (240 mL)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil (120 mL)
- 3 large eggs
For the Cream Cheese Layer:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened (225 g)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (120 g)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Layer:
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (50 g)
- 1 cup milk (240 mL)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (90 g)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs, then mix until smooth.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan evenly.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the batter in the pan, spreading it evenly.
- Spoon the remaining batter over the cream cheese layer, covering it as much as possible.
- In another bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder and milk until combined, then drizzle this over the batter.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool completely before serving.
