  • Author: Lily
  • Total Time: 15-30 minutes depending on cooking method
  • Yield: Approximately 8 servings 1x

Description

This Loaded Baked Potato Chip Dip is a creamy, cheesy delight packed with cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar cheese, green onions, and crispy bacon. Perfect for parties or casual snacking, it can be quickly heated in the microwave or oven for a warm, melty dip that pairs wonderfully with salty potato chips.

Ingredients

Scale

Dip Base

  • 2 packages cream cheese, softened to room temperature (8 oz each)
  • 1 cup sour cream

Mix-ins

  • 6 green onions, sliced and divided
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 3/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon, divided

Instructions

  1. Combine Cream Cheese and Sour Cream: In a mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese and sour cream together until smooth and well combined.
  2. Add Mix-ins: Stir in 5 of the sliced green onions, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and 1/2 cup of the cooked and crumbled bacon bits evenly into the mixture.
  3. Transfer to Baking Dish: Spread the dip mixture into a deep dish pie plate or a similarly sized 1-2 quart microwave or oven-safe baking dish, smoothing the top evenly.
  4. Add Remaining Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the dip mixture.
  5. Cook the Dip: To heat, you have two options: Cover the dish with plastic wrap and microwave on high for about 5 minutes until hot and bubbly; or bake uncovered in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for about 20 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
  6. Add Final Toppings: Once cooked, remove the dip from heat and top with the remaining sliced green onions and 1/4 cup cooked bacon bits.
  7. Serve: Serve the dip hot alongside a bowl of crispy potato chips for dipping.

Notes

  • You can prepare the base mixture ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to cook.
  • For a smokier flavor, try using smoked cheddar cheese or smoked bacon.
  • If you prefer a spicier dip, add minced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce into the mixture.
  • Use a microwave-safe or oven-safe dish to avoid accidents during cooking.
  • Adjust cooking times based on your microwave power or oven accuracy.
