White Garlic Pizza Sauce Recipe

  • Author: Lily
  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 1 12-inch pizza (6 slices) 1x

Description

A creamy white garlic sauce pizza featuring a rich homemade garlic sauce spread over a freshly rolled pizza dough, topped with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, Italian herbs, and fresh basil for a flavorful and comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Garlic Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1¼ cups whole milk
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • ¼ cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese

Pizza Assembly

  • 1 pre-made or homemade pizza dough
  • ½ cup prepared garlic sauce
  • 8 oz low-moisture mozzarella, freshly grated
  • ¼ cup Parmesan, freshly shredded
  • ½ teaspoon Italian herb mix
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (for brushing)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Make the Garlic Sauce: In a small pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly for 2 minutes until it forms a smooth roux without browning. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Stir for 3 to 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and bubbles lightly. Remove from heat and stir in the minced garlic, sea salt, and cracked black pepper. Finally, mix in the Parmesan cheese until fully melted and smooth. Let the sauce cool slightly before using.
  2. Preheat Oven and Prepare Dough: Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface. Brush the surface evenly with olive oil and sprinkle the Italian herb mix over the top to infuse flavor into the crust.
  3. Assemble the Pizza: Spread a thin, even layer of the prepared garlic sauce over the dough, ensuring full coverage. Sprinkle the grated low-moisture mozzarella evenly on top of the sauce, then garnish with the extra Parmesan cheese for added richness.
  4. Bake the Pizza: Place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and developing browned spots.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately garnish with fresh thinly sliced basil ribbons. Slice and serve hot for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, bake the pizza on a preheated pizza stone or steel.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic in the sauce to suit your taste preference.
  • Use freshly shredded cheeses for better melting and fresh flavor.
  • Leftover garlic sauce can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and used in pasta or as a dip.
  • Ensure the sauce has cooled slightly before spreading to avoid soggy dough.
